Padel lessons in Pattaya: what your first lesson looks like

Never held a padel racket, or coming from tennis? Here is exactly what happens in a lesson at Chilli Padel, and how fast you will be playing real games.

Padel is the easiest racket sport to start and one of the hardest to stop. You can rally in your first hour. But a few habits, from the grip to how you use the walls, decide whether you keep improving or get stuck. That is what a lesson is for.

What happens in a lesson

Every coach adapts to the player in front of them, but a first lesson at Chilli Padel usually follows this path.

01

Warm-up and the grip

Five easy minutes to loosen up, then the continental grip. It feels strange for ten shots and natural forever after. Tennis players, this is where your old habits get gently fixed.

02

Forehand, backhand, control

Short, compact swings from the coach’s feed. In padel control beats power, so you learn to place the ball deep and low before you ever think about hitting hard.

03

The walls

The moment padel clicks. You let the ball come off the back glass and play it on the way out. Most beginners are rallying off the wall by the middle of the first lesson.

04

At the net

Volleys and where to stand. Padel points are won at the net, so you learn when to move forward with your partner and how to block the ball back without swinging.

05

Serve and a real game

The underarm serve takes two minutes to learn. Then the coach plays points with you, so you finish the lesson knowing how a real game feels.

What to bring

  • Shoes with grip. Tennis, padel or multi-court shoes. Smooth running soles slide on the court.
  • Water and a towel. Pattaya is hot even under a roof. Morning and evening slots are the coolest.
  • Nothing else. Rackets and balls can be rented at the club, so try before you buy.

After your lessons: where it goes

Lessons are the shortcut, games are the fun. After one or two sessions most players join a weekly Americano, a social format where you rotate partners and meet half the club in two hours. A few months later, some of them enter their first tournament, like the Chilli Grand Slam on 14–15 November, which has Open categories for amateurs.

Never played at all and coming with friends? The Intro to Padel session is 90 minutes, no gear and no experience needed.

Questions before your first lesson

No. Rackets and balls can be rented at the club. Bring sports clothes, shoes with good grip, water and a towel. Running shoes with smooth soles slip on the court.
